Russia’s air travel with Egypt may resume in 2016
ROME, Oct 6 (PRIME) -- Air travel between Russia and Egypt may be resumed already in 2016, Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich told reporters Thursday.
“I hope so. The situation in the airport of Cairo is definitely better,” he said.
“A report has been presented, and it is clear what else has to be done. They have to install security systems, they have already ordered them, but the systems have not been delivered yet.”
Moscow suspended flights to Egypt in November 2015 after a major Russian plane crash over the Sinai Peninsula. Russia believes that the plane was likely brought down by a bomb. Transport Minister Maxim Sokolov said on September 30 that the two countries may sign an intergovernmental agreement on aviation safety by the end of 2016.
